Cannon performs a line after getting upset with Alice during the tea party. The Mad Hatter then calmed down and joined the rest of the guests for the remainder of the scene. Stella Leland (‘26) played the knave and reflected on their favorite part of rehearsals. “What stands out a lot is always the first read-through of something. Whenever we do that at any production — some of us might have read this script beforehand — its the first time the show is seen with everyone,” Leland said. “Who they are, their characters and everything, and its the first time youre like, ‘Oh, I can tell whats going to happen now.’ Its just a nice moment.”

The candy aisle of a Target store represents the abundance of choices people have in our society on a day-to-day level, which can ultimately lead to decision fatigue. Decision fatigue is when you make poorer decisions due the exhaustion that comes from making a lot of previous decisions; I suggest combating it by decreasing the number of decisions you make per day, which leaves more mental energy for important choices.

This is the table set up at Haidilao Hot Pot that my extended family and I had when we went for dinner. We ordered many items, including egg noodles, spinach, corn, fried bean curd rolls and chicken fried rice. I highly recommend this restaurant for a unique dining experience that exposes you to a part of Chinese culture.

The Class of 2017 traveled to Washington on Sept. 4 for Arrow Week. The Oracle asked the juniors to submit their best photos from the trip for a chance to win a free dress day for their Arrow Week group.

Rachel Pike ’17 won for her photo (see featured image and below). Her group was chaperoned by math teacher Tim Rule. This group will be allowed to wear free dress on Friday, Oct. 9.

This 11th grade trip was Archer’s 13th trip with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS).

Color Wars consisted of four activities — tug-of-war, mural decorating, door decorating and a relay race — in which students from different grade levels competed against each other to win Spirit Points. “It was really exciting because it’s just a fun way to show grade spirit, and it’s a fun way to bond with your friends,” Charlotte Stein (’26) said. “I think that the tug-of-war is always a highlight for Color Wars since we’ve been with the great rivalry, and then on the faculty comes in — I think that’s always a fun event.”

Syd Stone graduated in 2016. She became the Voices Editor and the Social Media Manager during the 2013-2014 school year and continued in that position in 2014-2015.  She served as the Co-Editor-In-Chief of the Oracle with Sarah Wagner during her senior year. She played cello in the Upper School Orchestra, was a member of the Honor Education Council and was the senior chair of the Ambassador Leadership Team. She attended the journalism institute for high school seniors at Northwestern University, where she went on to pursue a journalism major in college.
