Strolling through the streets of Beverly Hills the smell of Mulberry Street Pizzaria wafts through the air. It is a place that satisfies everyone’s cravings: From delicious salads and pasta to cheesy pizza and sweet desserts, Mulberry Street Pizzaria provides a plentiful meal — and leaves you wanting more.
There are currently four locations in Los Angeles. Two are in Beverly Hills, one in Encino and the other in Sherman Oaks. There is also a location based in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Richie Palmer founded Mulberry Street Pizza in 1991, bringing New York-style pizza to the West Coast. The menu is diverse, including various vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Both slices and pies are available to purchase. With more than 15 styles of pizza and over 20 different toppings, anyone can find something they love.
As I walked on Beverly Drive, the exterior immediately caught my eye. The cute storefront and delicious smell of pizza drew me through the front door. As I stepped inside, I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome. The line went by quickly. Mulberry Street Pizzaria has the option to bring your meal to-go, or to eat it inside. Once I ordered, I received my food within five minutes, fresh out of the oven. Each bite of the cheese pizza was equally satisfactory and absolutely incredible. Having both chili flakes and parmesan cheese available as toppings made the pizza all the more cheesy and delicious.
Mulberry Street Pizzaria offers various pastas, salads, sides, beverages and desserts along with pizza. Their most popular items include Mulberry Street New York Pizza, pepperoni pizza, the ‘Lorna Luft’ chopped salad, garlic knots, a cheese pizza slice and chicken wings. The chopped salad features romaine and iceberg lettuce, red onions, tomatoes, mozzarella and garbanzo beans, with the option to add pepperoni or chicken. They offer different sizes and dressings as well. Prices range from $20-38 for a pizza pie, $6-7 for a pizza slice, $16-20 for pasta, $9-11 for salads, $5-11 for sides and desserts and $3.5-4 for beverages. The meals are expensive, but worth the cost.
After ordering the baked rigatoni pasta, I was awed by the insane cheese pull. Mulberry Street Pizzaria is unique, because each dish complements the others perfectly. The side of mouthwatering garlic knots paired perfectly with each dish. Both the garlic knots and baked rigatoni paired perfectly with a simple yet outstanding cheese slice. The first bite of the cheese pizza was full of flavor, not too greasy and had just the perfect amount of marinara sauce and cheese. Each bite is equally addictive. No other pizza in Los Angeles demonstrates both a perfect New York-style slice and immaculate flavoring.
In Los Angeles, each location is decorated with red-and-white checkered tablecloths, posters of artists and bands and various celebrities’ signatures signed on its walls. These signatures validate the credibility of Mulberry Street Pizzaria, proving that it is indeed renowned and qualified to be “the world’s most famous pizzaria.” Despite the grand amount of decoration upon entering each location, it provides a sense of coziness rather than feeling clustered and claustrophobic.
I am obsessed with the variety of delicious tastes Mulberry Street Pizzaria offers. Although it is pricey, each dish’s unique and flavorful bite is worth every penny. Whether you are craving a slice of pizza or just a satisfactory meal, Mulberry Street Pizzaria should be an essential component of anyone’s list of go-to restaurants.
