Restaurant Review: True Food Kitchen

By Cuisine Editors

True Food Kitchen (TFK) opened its first restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona in the late ’90s.  Today, TFK has six locations throughout the country, including one in Santa Monica.  TFK serves healthy food with an original touch that satisfies a hard core vegan or a meat lover. All customers are bound to find something they will enjoy!

Founder, Dr. Andrew Weil, is a teacher and writes about “holistic health.” Weil received a medical degree and an undergraduate degree in biology from Harvard University.  He is a professor and director of the Arizona Center for Integrative medicine at the University of Arizona.  Weil has appeared twice in Time Magazine and has been a frequent guest on Larry King Live, Oprah and The Today Show.

After meeting Dr. Weil, restaurateur Sam Fox realized that Weil’s concept for a restaurant– one that serves great tasting food that’s good for you– could work. Together, they made True Food Kitchen a reality.

The restaurant space is large with indoor and outdoor dining.  Wood floors and high ceilings making the room modern and stylish. The servers are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.  With a different menu for each meal of the day, the menu always includes original drinks, an array of appetizers, entreés, salads, sandwiches, pizzas and (of course) desserts.

Highlights from the TFK menu include Tuscan Kale salad, Wild Mushroom pizza, Grass Fed Bison Burger, Cucumber Refresher soda and a delicious Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp.

Try out True Food Kitchen for a meal ample with healthy and delicious food!
