Regarding the article “Behind the Seams: Archer’s Conversation on Skirt Lengths“:

Archer makes the skirt policy about the outside world and perceptions from the outside world instead of building up the community within Archer and working towards a community of respect that everyone (teachers, students, and dogs alike) can feel comfortable in. The issue surrounding the wording of the policy is the word professionalism. Archer fails to recognize that Archer is still a school, it is not the workplace. In other schools where they wear whatever they want, they don’t go into the world thinking that is appropriate in the workplace and neither do Archer students.

However, it is still important to feel comfortable at school. Therefore, the policy should be have your skirt no shorter than your fingertips or the skirt should go to mid-thigh. As a whole, Archer is much too concerned with its image to the outside world and fails to see how detrimental that can be to the student body. I believe that Archer should work harder to form a genuine sense of community and family within the school rather than just project the image of it.
