Archer girls have many interests which help them cultivate who they want to be. Recently, Ava-Rose Beech ’16 shared her experiences with one: Teen Insight.
Beech explained that “[she] learned to take skills [she] got out of Insight and take them into real life.” She believes that Teen Insight teaches teens how to cope with everyday challenges in a more positive light.
The activities during Insight range on a variety of topics. Beech said the activities are “engaging and fun, but can also be very emotional.” The program helps teens with topics such as “low self esteem, tragedies, and relationships.”
Beech adds that Teen Insight Seminars are a way to bring teens together. She feels that the seminars help teenagers see that they are not alone in the challenges they face. They teach teens to make conscious decisions about life experiences and to develop close connections between the attendees. In addition, she says that the program educates participants how to be compassionate leaders.
There are multiple levels of the seminar. One offered is Teen Insight I: The Awakening Heart Seminar. This seminar focuses on facing challenges presented through peer pressure. Beech believes it is a powerful resource in understanding how to deal with uncomfortable topics. The first step is called “awakening the heart.”
