Spirit Week incorporates new, old themes during major assessment week

Associate Director of College Guidance Shalyn Tharayil works in her office in preparation for rising seniors college application season. Tharayil has worked with schools all over the world and reflected on her first year at Archer. The candy aisle of a Target store represents the abundance of choices people have in our society on a day-to-day level, which can ultimately lead to decision fatigue. Decision fatigue is when you make poorer decisions due the exhaustion that comes from making a lot of previous decisions; I suggest combating it by decreasing the number of decisions you make per day, which leaves more mental energy for important choices.

Avery Fox joined the Oracle as a staff reporter in 2019. She participates in Archer's Upper School Musical and is in Dance Performance Company, A Cappella, and Choir. Outside of school, you can find her acting, singing, playing the piano or doing community service.

The Eastern Star Gallery show, Tangled Memories, opened at the end of February. The exhibit combines scents and paintings to showcase memories that Americans have.

In the college admissions corridor, various pennants hang along the walls representing the past two years where Archer graduates have matriculated. For people of color, the harmful effects of microagressions surrounding the college admissions process has become an area of discomfort and discouragement, as topics such as race, athletics and socioeconomic status arise.
