Since the beginning of the school year, construction has prevented students from walking down the southeast stairs to the library, but finally the day has come for students and teachers to enjoy the new MediaSpace’s many benefits. The MediaSpace provides a hub for film, digital photography and more. There is an official ribbon cutting scheduled for Jan. 14, but classes are already meeting in the space.
Theater teacher Reed Farley explained that the MediaSpace was “designed to encourage artistic collaboration and provide students with cutting edge technology to support their creative endeavors.”
The MediaSpace was created because “our digital media arts programs are in demand… as student engagement increases, so does the desire for students to have cutting edge technologies at their fingertips,” Farley said.
The MediaSpace provides teachers and students a collaborative workspace with editing stations, a sound booth, a soundproof lighting studio with motorized electric background systems, an infinity wall and a screening room with movie theater seating and built in surround sound.
