The annual Color Clash, a senior versus faculty kickball game, took place Oct. 11, 2024. The faculty won 12-2 against the seniors, so the seniors challenged them to a rematch in volleyball on the sports court March 20. After the rematch, the final score was 10-5, with the faculty emerging victorious once more.
Aviana Le Gallo (’28) said it is important to foster support and connection within the Archer community, which Color Clash emphasizes. She appreciated how the event included themed free dress. Students in grades six, eight and 10 wore pink to support the seniors, while grades seven, nine and 11 wore black to support the faculty.
“I love that we get to support our seniors every single year,” Le Gallo said. “It makes me really happy that Archer has this many traditions, and I think it’s really important that we keep these traditions alive.”
Before the game, Indya Weitzman (’28) said she was excited to watch the rematch and see the outcome. She said the event was engaging and fun.
“I love watching my teachers play volleyball against students,” she said, “so I find it very entertaining.”
Senior Danilka Foranda-Zanipatin, who participated in the initial Color Clash game in October, also played in the rematch. She said she was disappointed by the loss but enjoyed playing in the game.
“We win some we lose some,” Foranda-Zanipatin said, “but [the loss] is okay because it’s all about the experience.”
World Language Department Chair Travis Nesbitt played for the faculty team. He said the event was a fun way to interact with students and other faculty members.
“It’s always a balancing act, you know, to be competitive and not be too competitive,” Nesbitt said. “It was just fun playing with seniors.”
Weitzman said she enjoyed watching her community come together and display their athletic abilities.
“[Color Clash] connects the school,” Weitzman said. “It allows us to all come together and allows us to show off our talent.”
Foranda-Zanipatin said she was glad she was a part of the team and tried her best. She especially appreciated having the event during a stressful week leading up to spring break.
“This week, at least for me, has been really stressful … it’s just nice to see the teachers also in action,” Foranda-Zanipatin said. “It was nice to participate in the last few moments that we have of our senior year.”
