S6E1 – The Scoop on ‘young but scrappy’ varsity volleyball team

In this episode of The Scoop, Culture Editor Charlotte Burnap discussed the varsity volleyball team with Coach Charlie Schmittdeal, player Shanthi Seth (‘27) and Co-Captain Serenity Jones (‘26). With only two seniors, the team is made up of predominantly underclassmen, leaving the team smaller and — at times — less motivated. The athletes discuss how they overcome these challenges and foster community across grades.

Charlotte Burnap joined The Oracle in 2023, became a senior reporter in 2024 and became culture editor in 2025. At Archer, she is a member of the music leadership team, assistant director of the middle school musical and singer in the choir and Unaccompanied Minors, Archer’s a cappella group. In her free time, you can find her listening to music, walking around flea markets or hanging out with her friends.
