On this episode of The Feminist Focus, host Olivia Hallinan-Gan (‘26) looks at the recent rise of “red pilling,” a term taken from the 1999 film “The Matrix,” in which the characters chose truth over illusion. Now, choosing the red pill means “waking up” to the supposed reality of the world. This term has been used by alt-right groups to justify male supremacy and hatred toward women.

Olivia Hallinan-Gan joined The Oracle as a staff reporter in 2022. In 2023, she joined Hestia’s Flame and became a podcaster on The Oracle. She was editor-in-chief of the yearbook in 2005-2006. Olivia’s podcast explored how ideological and political ideals affect women, specifically teenage girls. She was a part of Dance Leadership Team, chess club, Ambassador Leadership Team and the Artemis Center.
