From the DJ and the photo booth to the decorations and lighting around the Rose Room, Courtyard and Veranda, in a matter of hours the Archer School for Girls went from school-time to party-time. On Friday, Jan. 23, the current freshmen and sophomores had their Semi-Formal in the Rose Room.
Class deans Jacob London and Jenn Babin, along with the class reps of the two classes, planned and held fundraisers for months.
“I am really excited to be dean-ing my very first dance, and I could not ask for a better group of reps to help me prepare,” Babin said as students excitedly entered the Rose Room.
Grade advisors took shifts throughout the night and had different responsibilities. Andy Calendar said it was his job to “make sure nothing gets out of hand.”
Fellow advisor Amelia Mathis said her responsibility was going to be in the Rose Room: “I am on the dance floor all night long,” she said.
Freshmen and sophomores from Loyola and Crespi were invited. Archer girls were allowed to invite students they knew from other school as well.
“It was a great opportunity to connect with new people and have a great time with my friends,” Cydney Davis ’18 said.
Annie Moore ’17 and Sarah Walston ’17 said that their favorite part of the night was “the decorations and lighting.”
“It was fun to see everyone dressed up and be silly in the photo booth, ” Walston said.
