The Spanish 4 Honors, Senior Seminar and AP Spanish classes went on a field trip to the Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, California, on April 22 to explore the intricacies of Latin American culture.
The students, comprised mainly of sophomores, juniors and seniors, were given a tour of the museum, which features modern and contemporary paintings from Latin American artists, including Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera and José Clemente Orozco.
“I feel like I learned how to be pensive and take my time with art. I thought it was really interesting how the artists combined their interests and experiences into their art,” said Xochitl Garcia-Euyoque ’15, one of the students in the AP Spanish class.
To add to the experience, the group was given a flavor of traditional foods from countries all around Latin America, including tamales, arroz con pollo and mole.
