Archer hosted its annual Club Fair in the courtyard during lunch on Friday, Sept. 25.
The Club Fair provides an opportunity for new and returning students to learn about the club offerings at Archer. It also provides a chance for students to mingle with each other and recognize the different interests of students and faculty members across campus.
About 30 clubs had their own tables at this year’s fair. One of the clubs was Best Buddies, which is a nonprofit organization where students create relationships with adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Diversity Club also had a booth at The Club Fair. Sarah Boehm ’16 describes the Diversity Club as a club that “fosters discussions that better the listener and the talker, creating a relationship between people to feel intimately connected and important in their thoughts. It encourages people to lean into discomfort and challenge themselves and others to talk about uncomfortable subjects for the betterment of society.”
Aisha Mainwaring ’17 said, “It was very festive and I liked that there was such a wide variety of clubs to choose from.”
Each individual club had the freedom to decorate their own table with items to go along with the focus of their club. Some had colorful balloons, treats and a sign-up sheet for students to jot their name down.
Dean of Students Travis Nesbitt said, “I was excited to see all of the energy and enthusiasm in the Courtyard around student-led clubs. With over 30 clubs present, Archer girls proved that they are more than willing to take initiative and get involved.”
