Hi, Archer community!

Where has the year gone? It feels like we just started the year yesterday, and here we are at the end.

I must admit, as a senior, my time at Archer has gone by within a blink of an eye. I still remember my first day as an awkward seventh grader, to my first day of high school to my last orientation. All I can say is, make sure to treasure your time at Archer because before you know it, you will be leaving too.

On a brighter note, this has been one of the most amazing years and I am so glad to end it on such a positive note.

From kicking off the year #LeaningInTogether, going through the wild election season together, to the senior art shows and saying goodbye to Ms. Coyne-Donnel and Mr. Donnel — these are just a few things, but some things that I will never forget as senior year comes to a close.

There is something I have to come clean about, this is my third letter from the editor. They are usually fairly straightforward to write, but this one was extremely hard for me. I was thinking about this, and I truly realized it’s because I have to come to terms with the fact that I am graduating Archer in a matter of seconds.

It is really hard to think that I will be leaving this place because not only has it shaped me to be who I am today, but I have made sisters that I never thought I would have made and found another home. This day felt so far away, but it hit me like a rock.

I received Dr. Nesbitt’s email with the subject “This week’s school-day meetings and events (5/15-5/19)” and realized that this was the last “This week’s” email that I will be receiving… at least I don’t think college does those. Reading that email, reading the ending “Thanks and congratulations to our seniors” made me cry. I don’t think anyone has been this candid about their experience at Archer, but I will say that treasure it each and every day.

Yes, you may have a lot of work. Yes, you might have a lot of tests to study for or essays to write. But, you are only at Archer for a short amount of time, make it count.

Thank you to the best Journalism class ever, it has been an honor watching you grow as writers and develop a passion for journalism.

To next year’s Editorial Board, I can’t wait to see how you are going to make the Journalism program even stronger, and I am already so proud of you.

To the Class of 2017, I don’t know where I would be without you. I don’t know who I would be without you. Thank you for making me the person I am today.

It has truly been an honor.

Have a wonderful well-deserved summer, you deserve it!

Cheers,
