Varsity basketball plays in Milken Classic Tournament
Archer’s varsity basketball team played against Campbell Hall in the Milken Classic Tournament on Monday, Dec. 3. The team lost 45-34.
The varsity team is composed of students ranging from freshman to seniors. A majority of team members this year are freshmen and sophomores.
“This season is going well,” sophomore Starrlyn Brown said. “We have a new team and we’re learning how to work with each other. Our wins and loss ratio is not good right now, but we’re [still] learning.”
The team emphasized teamwork as an important part of playing basketball. Sophomore Kaiya Jefferson said she appreciates the social aspect of the team.
“My favorite part of being on the team is definitely bonding with everybody, and how close you get during the season. That’s the most fun part too, because you build actual friendships with the rest of the team,” Jefferson said.
Despite the loss, team members said they will grow by strengthening their relationships.
“You really see [bonding] on the court,” Brown said. “Trusting each other off the court also helps to trust each other on the court.”
The team will play Milken Community School at 3 p.m. today.
