2018-2019 school year culminates with skits, dance, celebration

  • The rising senior class celebrates its spirit cup win on stage. The spirit cup is awarded every year to the class that received the most spirit points by the end of the school year. “Honestly, our class reps pulled through,” Ella Brown ’20 said. “Next year is going to be awesome, too, because they work so hard.”

  • The moving up ceremony comes to an end as each class is called up to run through a tunnel made by teachers and their new senior class and into their next grade level. “[Being a senior] feels amazing,” Brown said. “I feel like a whole new person.”

  • The culminating event of the last day of school is the maypole dance, which is performed by the sixth grade class every year. “We started [practicing the maypole dance] last month,” Naomi Gee ’25 said. “Weaving was pretty hard; we didn’t get it fully until the last practice.”

The community celebrated Moving Up Day on Friday, June 7, with advisory and meetings, awards ceremonies, faculty skits, and the customary maypole dance, performed by the sixth grade class.
