Thursday, 13 December 2012 – Bel Air, Milken High School
Last week, the Panthers faced four different teams in the third annual Milken Tournament. Pulling out of three losses to Buckley (which included the first of many half-court shots made by Lindsay Levesque), Campbell Hall, and Saugus, the team rallied its spirits against AGBU, resulting in a WIN 50-39.
The game itself was riveting and altogether splendid. Bench players made an enormous effort out on the court and scored several points between them. Maia Barnett played an exceptional game, scoring thirty-three points and snatching away nineteen rebounds. Maia was rewarded Player of the Game (making the All-Tournament team), her second title of the year. Jasmine Chen also scored three points and grabbed two rebounds. Sophomore Rachel Magnin played an amazing game, scoring eight points and seizing a total of ten rebounds. Logan Howard and Christian Luhnow played tough, defensive games, getting seven rebounds between them. Senior Ciena Lennon was out due to a minor leg injury, but looks forward to playing again this week.
Despite their close losses, Coach Lennon reflected that “the team showed a lot of heart,” and that the players will only continue to improve, looking for ways to uphold team spirit and to use their initiative and skill to improve their confidence.
Current Record: 4-7
Next Game: Friday, December 21, SMC, vs. Heritage Christian, 5:00 p.m.
