Women’s History Month honored those who have positively impacted their community, and as we approach the end of the school year, we would like to acknowledge the women in our community who make a difference every day. The month of March marked International Women’s History Month, as March 8 signifies International Women’s Day, a global holiday celebrated annually and a focal point in women’s rights movement. The holiday was established in 1910, when 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay and voting rights, March celebrates the progress made towards achieving gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Not only did last month allow us to reflect on these accomplishments, but it also served as a reminder to celebrate women’s milestones and their extraordinary roles in all spheres of society. As the school year comes to a close, we recognize and acknowledge the wonderful women at Archer and their contributions, roles and perspectives. Thank you to our teachers, administrators, staff and facility workers for supporting and looking after us.

While we are grateful for the incredible relationships we have been able to build seeing and learning from all of the women on Archer’s campus, The Oracle wanted to specifically recognize the women on campus whose actions aren’t always visible everyday; however, we still acknowledge and celebrate their impact. The 2022-23 Oracle Editorial Board chose to spotlight four women that we are grateful for, whose incredible contributions to the Archer have shaped our community.

Yoshi Wilson

Wilson, director of security and transportation, is the first person we see every morning and the last person we see every afternoon on campus. Sitting on the front steps of school with a big smile on her face, Wilson greets Archer students with the warmest, “Good morning beautiful” and kindest, “Have a nice day sweetie,” setting the tone for a great day. Whether she is organizing students’ bus routes to ensure they have a safe and enjoyable commute to school or approving across-the-street privileges, Wilson is the reason we are all able to travel to school everyday.

Kim Ortiz

“I got you!” and “You’re all good,” lead campus monitor Ortiz says when you approach her at the front of the school, excited to cross the street. By always knowing our names and grade levels without hesitation, Ortiz makes us feel seen. No matter the time of day, whenever we walk over to Ortiz, she always has a smile on her face and positive attitude. Whether she is managing a long line of hungry girls looking to go across the street for lunch or organizing and managing the traffic coming onto campus, we thank Ortiz for her attention to detail and kindness.

Estephany López

Admissions Associate is López’s official title; however, her role expands beyond just coordinating admission events, mentoring the Ambassador Leadership Team and organizing tours. While also helping to organize transcripts, letters of recommendations and student applications, López seamlessly sends every student information to ensure they are delivered safely and on time. Additionally, López has offered her efforts to translate Spanish for family meetings, admission events and any other events that need it. She cares about each family, believes that every student deserves to be heard and does so through offering her time to translate for those that need it. We thank López for giving her time to enhance our community and believing in each student.

Kasey Nott

Nott, Director of Academic Operations, is the expert behind everything at Archer. From ensuring that every student is present and safe at school helping to create every student’s dream schedule, Nott cares about every student and faculty members’ needs. Nott oversees the logistics of all courses, attendence and any Archer event — all of which she does with excellence and eagerness to help the community.

These are just a few of the amazing women we are lucky enough to engage with every day at Archer. We thank all of the strong female leaders we look up to for their amazing work and dedication to helping our community.
