The annual seniors versus faculty kickball game was in full swing Friday, Oct. 11, during lunch. Posters advertising the game were put up in hallways, and a trailer showing both teams warming up created by the Student Council Executive Board was showcased in class meetings. The event took place on the backfield, with treats for the crowd and music playing. Ultimately, the faculty won 12-2 over the seniors.
Color clash unites grades, sparks rivalry between seniors and faculty

Senior Alina Williams prepares to roll out the starting pitch to the faculty team. “It was our first official, or big school event of the year, and we wanted to make it a little different than past years,” Executive Board member Francie Wallack (’25) said. “We decided to snow cones and popcorn […] and the snow cones were a big hit. People loved them. It was really hot that day, so I think people enjoyed that.”

Senior Charlie Clayton makes a crucial catch, for the senior team, since the faculty team was winning, while fellow seniors Lucy Williams and Bryce Collis jump in excitement for their team. “Color Clash, out of all the spirit events is very unifying because during Color Wars, every grade is a different team,” Wallack said. “[With] Winter Wonderland, there’s not really competition, but with Color Clash, you’re all banding together.”

Despite not achieving a score they hoped for, seniors still cheered their classmates on. “We did our best. I did not play on the senior team, but I’m really proud of them,” Wallack said. “They tried their best, and we’re hoping to do a rematch, potentially in a volleyball game against the faculty. But we did our best, and we were spirited through it all.”

Wallack was a commentator for the game and said she noticed that both seniors and faculty alike were fired up to play. “It was funny because people got so competitive, during the game so all the teachers, and my classmates were screaming at me when I mess something up so it was just funny to experience that,” Wallack said.
