Students and faculty gathered in the courtyard to enjoy performances, music, competitions and snacks to celebrate Archer’s annual Spirit Week from March 2 through March 6.
With some returning themes and some new additions for this year, community members took each day and made it their own.
“The key to putting on an active and enthusiastic Spirit Week is to plan with that same enthusiasm,” Student Council Co-Advisor Luke Robertson said.
“Student Council worked really hard to put this together. We worked many hours after school and during the day. Despite the hard work and thought put into making this Spirit Week amazing, student council bonded a lot during this week and it was nice to really get to know a lot of the other members,” Junior Class Representative Haley Kerner ’16 said.
To start off the week, students and faculty rolled out of bed, put on their slippers and robes and came straight to school for Pajama Day. Student council prepared a waffle station in the dining hall for the community to decorate waffles. While indulging in their sweet breakfast treats, Disney’s 2012 movie, “Up,” played in the dining hall.
Students participated in a competition to decorate their class deans’ faces and give them new personas. The 11th graders took first place in the competition, decorating Travis Nesbitt as a “mentally unstable mime.”

On Tuesday, the community dressed in their Hawaiian shirts, khaki shorts and fanny packs for Tacky Tourist Tuesday. Student council served punch, lemonade and fruit snacks to the students. Students gathered in the courtyard to compete in the limbo and hula hoop competitions.
Cheerleaders, jocks, nerds and goth students roamed the hallways during High School Stereotype Day on Wednesday.
The faculty competed in groups in a lip sync battle in the courtyard inspired by Jimmy Kimmel. The faculty showcased their lip synching talents and brought back songs from the 1990s and the early 2000s — talk about a #TBT.
Teachers Jacob London, Malia McClurg, Kate Burns, Wendy Thornton, Stephanie Ferri and Emily Silver won the competition for their act as the Backstreet Boys.

On Thursday, students and faculty dressed up as their favorite celebrities, TV or movie characters. Students from each grade formed groups and gathered in the courtyard for a competition of celebrity trivia while others enjoyed freshly popped popcorn.
Both the 10th and 11th grade took first place in the competition.
To end the week, each grade showed their class spirit by coming together and dressing for a theme each grade had agreed upon.
During lunch, students and faculty gathered in the courtyard to watch grade and faculty dance performances.
The 10th graders came in first place, ninth grade in second place and eighth grade in third place.
