What happens when the father comes home after the stepfather has already moved in with the family? It’s messy. “Daddy’s Home” will leave you laughing with its comedic storyline and lead actors, Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.

Brad Taggart (Ferrell) is Megan and Dylan’s stepdad and their mom Sarah’s husband. After months of rejection, the children finally accept Taggart. Just when he feels that he is a true member of the family, biological dad Dusty (Wahlberg) comes back into the picture, messing up Brad’s new role of stepdad.

Sean Anders directs “Daddy’s Home.” Anders also directed “Horrible Bosses 2” and “We’re the Millers.”

The movie follows the constant battle between Brad and Dusty as they compete to win over the kids’ love, and ultimately Sarah’s approval.

From turning the backyard into a skate park to spoiling the kids with presents to buying the kids a pony, the competition gets very intense.

I gave the movie three out of five stars for the story because while it is is very funny, some parts were a bit unnecessary. For example, some parts that were funny dragged on for too long.

The acting in the movie was very good, even the youngest actors did an excellent job with their roles.

Both the technical quality and enjoyment of the film were high. I laughed a lot and exited the movie feeling quite satisfied.

Even though the movie was funny, there was not a great impact. I was hoping I would walk away from the movie feeling like I had found one of my favorite comedies and one I would always remember, but I did not.

Overall, “Daddy’s Home” is a great comedy with an interesting and unique storyline. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an upbeat story and a laugh.

According to IMDB, “Daddy’s Home” is rated “PG-13 for thematic elements, crude and suggestive content, and for language.”
