Review: My bigg obsession
What does your average Friday night look like? Think about it — you probably have something different happening each week. Well, let me tell you a bit about my Friday nights.
After a long week of school, I am about ready to go home and get to sleep — and that is what I plan to do. However, around 8 p.m. I can always expect a text from a friend that says, “Bigg Chill?” Who am I to decline an offer for some delicious fro-yo? So, of course, I go.
The Bigg Chill has been around for over 20 years and only has one location on Olympic and Westwood. Ever since I started going to The Bigg Chill, my mom started telling me about how she would go there while she was pregnant with me.
It is always exciting to walk in because I never know what flavor I am in for.
Of course, I can look at the menu online, but I find it fun to see what flavor they have that given day. The two consistent flavors are vanilla and chocolate. In all honesty, though, I usually stick with vanilla because you can never go wrong with a classic flavor.
The other appeal of The Bigg Chill is that they have regular frozen yogurt, but they also serve carbolite (fewer carbs), wow cow (less dairy) and dairy-free (no dairy whatsoever).
Lastly, The Bigg Chill offers a wide array of toppings. My friends and I normally stick to the vegan cookie dough — my personal preference is the sugar cookie dough, but they’re all delicious.
I also recommend ordering it on the side— the servers give you more that way! The Bigg Chill also offers themed sprinkles, and one of my friends particularly loves ordering the UCLA colored sprinkles.
I must admit, though, that one of the major appeals is their portion sizes. They tend to give you a lot of yogurt, even if you order a small. However, there is one server that is often stingy with the portion sizes, but hey, customers can make it work. Also, the service can be a bit slow at times depending on the number of people in the yogurt shop.
Not only does the eatery serve yogurt, but it also has other delicious food as well. The Bigg Chill sells pre-made ice cream sandwiches, pies and slushies. Although I have never had any of these but they always look amazing.
So, as for every plus, there are a few cons. Finding parking at Bigg Chill is one of the hardest things to do, especially if you go at peak times. I have gotten stuck in the parking lot a countless number of times.
Also, if you go at a busy hour, most of the tables are taken, so customers might be awkwardly standing around waiting for someone to leave. Lastly, not necessarily a con, just a warning, make sure to have cash. The Bigg Chill is strictly cash only.
The eatery is open on Monday’s, Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s, Thursday’s and Sunday’s from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. They are also open on Friday’s and Saturday’s from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Summary
Overall, The Bigg Chill is a wonderful and fun place. However, the service is a little slow which can be an issue. The quality of the food is great, and the ambiance is fun, but it often gets quite crowded.

Wow Anika great article! I used to greatly dislike Big Chill but now you have made me see it in a new light. I might just go there again!

Yum! I also love the Bigg Chill—however, the parking situation is crazy, as you noted! Great review <3
