Pajama-clad students flooded the courtyard during lunch on March 2 for festivities ranging from an intergrade “Guess the Cereal” competition to a friendship-bracelet -making station. The spirit week kickoff incorporated new activities and honored traditions, Executive Board Member Angelica Gonzalez (’20) said.

Pajama Day itself has long been a constant in Spirit Week festivities that change from year to year. For example, this Wednesday’s theme is “Archella,” which used to be a separate event held later in the spring, and last year’s Meme Day morphed into “LA Vibe Day” for this year’s festivities.

The consistent inclusion of PJ Monday made Gonzalez more sentimental, given that this year is her last at Archer.

“It was exactly how Archer events usually go,” she said. “There was a lot of singing and dancing, and it was actually a little emotional for me to see.”

StuCo also incorporated new activities into the celebration, including a count the sheep competition and the friendship bracelet making station.

“We wanted to make sure everything would turn out great,” Gonzalez said. “I think, for me, it was a lot of making it the best one yet because it’s my last Spirit Week at Archer.”

Tomorrow’s theme, TV Tuesday, will have students dress up as their favorite television characters. The Oracle will continue to report on Spirit Week events.
