Students Explore Unique Opportunities, Career Paths

Students+Explore+Unique+Opportunities%2C+Career+Paths

On Mar. 12, students and parent volunteers arrived to campus for Archer’s annual Career Day.

Every year Archer gives students the opportunity to visit various job sites across the Los Angeles area. This year, Archer provided students with a total of 68  places to explore. The sites ranged from archeology, law, broadcasting, education, medicine and much more.

Dean of Students Gretchen Warner believes that “Career Day allows students to be exposed to many different fields and interests that they might have.” She adds,  “I think Career Day is a unique opportunity for students to get an idea of what the working world is really like.”

During her first year at Archer, Jordan Mamalakis ‘19 went to Judge Laura Walton’s courtroom for Career Day.  She says, “It was the most amazing experience I have ever had.  I want to be a lawyer when I am older, so seeing an attorney in action was absolutely fantastic.”

Sarah Wagner ‘16 says, “I got to learn about a line of work that I had never really thought about before— voice acting. I’m so glad that Archer provides us with the opportunity to explore various occupations that we might not have otherwise considered.”

When Emma Lapin ‘14 reflects back on her past Career Days at Archer, she nostalgically says, “Over the years, Career Day has allowed me to see a wide range of workplaces, from [an] aquarium to a judge’s office. These experiences have been very valuable and gave me insights into possible career interests.”
