1. Choose a leadership quote and in a short paragraph explain how it applies to your “style” of leadership and why.

Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others.” – Jack Welch

Welch’s quote accurately describes me as a leader at Archer. Since beginning at Archer in the sixth grade, I have been able to learn, explore, and grow more so than I ever had the opportunity to before. I’ve had the courage to try new things and have been pushed outside my comfort zone at Archer; I’ve tried new sports, taken new classes, most definitely have tried new foods, and backpacking in the middle of Arizona was no easy task.

Because of these experiences, I feel am more of a well-rounded person, which helps me to relate to more people. As a leader at Archer, I would encourage others to try new things and step outside of their comfort zones. Growing yourself is pivotal at this age, and Archer is just the place to do so.

2. As a student council member, what important goals would you have for Student Council? For Archer?

As a student council member, one of the main goals that I would have for Student Council is to increase the school spirit and making the Archer community more united. I believe that Student Council should have more frequent school wide activities that would bring the whole community together. Perhaps not as elaborate as Winter Wonderland and Halloween, but something smaller.

3. What are your plans for increasing school spirit and student participation at Archer?

As an athlete, I know that having school support at your games is a great feeling, and in return, I love going out to games to support and cheer on my fellow Archer athletes and sisters. Because the majority of our home courts and fields are off campus, that makes it difficult for the community to make it. In order to fix this, I would propose that maybe we could get a “fan” bus for the big games.

4. What role(s) do you think Student Council should play at archer? Is Student Council currently fulfilling that role? If not, what changes do you propose to make it happen?

Student Council is most often known as the liaison between the student body and the faculty. While Archer’s current Student Council is an excellent communicator between the students and the administration, their roles in the school go beyond voicing our thoughts to Ms. Warner.

Student Council is in charge of increasing school spirit and unity. They’re responsible for the most “looked-forward” to events of the year at Archer that get everyone involved; Winter Wonderland, Halloween carnival, and, most of all, Spirit Week.

5. Why do you want to be on Student Council, really?

I was previously on Student Council in seventh grade, as a class rep and it was, honestly speaking, one of the best experiences that I have had at Archer. Student Council allowed me to step-up and take a leadership position in my community.

I also made so many friends through working on Student Council. Then, I was able to be a representative of the rest of the seventh grade, the DAPs, while at the same time having fun with the rest of student council; having to stay late to set up for Spirit Week and all the lunch meetings.

I want to run for ASB this year, because I want to be able to experience this again; being able to make new friends, and contributing to make the Archer community as fun as possible.
