Fall Begins with Seasonal Beverages

Most people associate fall with leaves changing colors and warm cozy sweaters.  Although Los Angeles doesn’t have much of a season change, many people agree that the delicious tastes of limited edition seasonal beverages are one enjoyable part of the season.

Pumpkin Spice Lattes (PSL) carry with them a comfortable nature—which might have something to do with memories of familial Thanksgiving gatherings, but probably caused by the sheer warmth and taste of the drink.  Starbucks describes their PSL as their “signature espresso blended with the unmistakable spices of fall – cinnamon, nutmeg and clove – smooth with steamed milk, topped with delectably sweetened whipped cream and pumpkin pie spices.”

The Pumpkin Spice Latte is one of the many  fall drinks Archer girls crave.  They serve two other main fall drinks: the Chocolate Chai Latte and the Salted Caramel Latte. Sara Seaman ’16 calls the Salted Caramel Mocha “deliciously bad for you.”

And that it is;  A grande with whipped cream has about 420 calories in it, and a surprising 56 g of sugar.  Their other drinks aren’t much healthier.  Neither the Pumpkin Spice Latte nor the Chocolate Chai Latte are particularly healthy.  But this doesn’t stop Archer students from desiring their delicious taste.

Although Starbucks seems to be the favorite coffee supplier for Archer girls—possibly because it’s a mere .2 miles away—it isn’t the only coffeehouse profiting off of delicious fall flavors.  Peet’s Coffee offers their own lineup, which consists of the Pumpkin Latte, the Pumpkin Chai Latte, and the Maple Latte.  Another popular fall beverage is  Coffee Bean‘s Pumpkin Ice Blended.

The exclusively fall drinks of the season make transitioning into the school year a little more bearable for tired students.
