The açaí bowl, margarita pizza and curry bowl are pictured at Gratitude Cafe. One of my favorites on the menu was the pizza as it replicated a traditional pizza, while adding new flavors and expanding my tastebuds. The cafe offers a wide range of vegan cuisine, such as an entirely plant-based cheese made from cashews.

My meal included pancakes and a side of bacon and scrambled eggs. After one bite, I was immediately hooked. I knew that the Good Neighbor Diner would forever be one of my all-time favorite restaurants.

A variety of produce from a Community Supported Agriculture delivery box is pictured. CSA boxes were a staple in my family’s life a year ago, as they provided fresh produce from farms directly to customers’ homes.

Nichol Whiteman, Kiesha Nix, Michelle Bohan and Marlene Tsuchii-Dalston sit on a panel of women in leadership positions in different industries. The panelists, chosen by the Archer Alumni Board, spoke about a range of topics from their journeys to leadership to the advice they would give to their younger selves. “I feel like every day I take my whole community to work with me,” Nix said. “They’re counting on me. I can’t let them down — This is bigger than me. It’s great that I accomplished this but what can I do to pave the way for the next me?”

The senior team performs with their grade mascot, the shark. Many students showed up to support their classmates and watch the dances. “It’s a hard process but the end goal is really good,” senior Naya Ben-Meir said. “I also love how spirited the whole day is.”

The Santa Monica Pier has fencing for 18 blocks along Ocean Avenue, and there are signs at the entrances of the paths saying that nobody can pass. The pier was built in 1909 and has never been fully closed. Many businesses that Archer girls frequent are closed during this time.

The Maypole is a tradition at Archer that is put up on May 1 every year. Sixth grade dean Lauren Sekula said seeing the maypole as the backdrop on the first day of school makes her excited for the spring tradition.
