This season, Archer’s varsity softball team concluded with an 11-8 overall record and made it to CIF-SS Division 7 playoffs.

The team had an 8-0 league record, which led them to a Liberty League championship on May 10 with a 10-0 victory over Providence. At the time of the win, Archer was seventh in the CIF-SS Division 7 rankings.

“We didn’t lose any games in league and we have had a really good season so far,” Ali Kiley ’16 said after the game: [We have a] really close team and we have been really proud of how well we have been doing this year.”

Prior to the CIF-SS game, Athletic Director Denny Lennon described the nature of the team.

“I think [the season has] gone particularly well. We have an excellent pitcher [Kamryn Bellamy ’18] and an excellent catcher [Morgan Dennis ’19],” Lennon said, “We have many players who started off as good players who as the season progressed became really good players.”

On May 15, the team played Academy for Academic Excellence in what would be their final game of the season. After seven innings, Archer fell 4-3.

The moment was bittersweet for the seniors, who were playing their last game in an Archer uniform.

“It’s really sad that [softball] is the last sport,” Kiley said. “It’s very surreal that it’s coming to an end.”

“Hopefully, some time they will reflect on the success they have had in the last four years playing softball. Our team has not only done well, but they have been keen in laying a foundation for the next group of girls so they will do well,” Lennon said. “There is much appreciation there, and I guess we will miss them.”

He laughed and added, “No, of course, we will miss them.”
