Archer’s yearlong equestrian season is just getting started as November advances.

The team conquered many goals this past quarter including competing in the Interscholastic Equestrian League (IEL). The Panthers rode their hearts out at a recent show for the Los Angeles IEL, one of the first high school riding leagues in the United States. The talented girls continued to strengthen their skills at separate practices, which are held up to five days a week.

The team took their first leap of the year at the Los Angeles IEL’s fall show in October. Several girls competed and scored exceptionally well. Freshman Logan Connors ’17 competed against more than two hundred riders, and came in seventh place in her Junior Varsity event . She was also awarded Reserve Overall High Point JV Rider.

Overall the first quarter of the equestrian season was a complete success. At the end of the quarter, the girls were commended for their great commitment while continuing to grow as athletes.

“I love equestrian because I like working with horses. They relax me and bring out the best in me. I could be having the worst day then just walk to the barn, pop on my horse and I’ll feel ten times better!” says Lili Marshall ’15 of her love of equestrian.

Throughout the beginning of the season, the team of 14 continued to bond. “By the end of the season, we [will have] grown as a team and used our spirit to help accomplish individual goals,” says team co-captain Emma Lapin ’14.
